The Mithan are among the last races to be discovered in the Galaxy and came into the fold only a few thousand years ago. The Mithan discovered space flight and NLS technology independently and occupied the Pyxis globular cluster on the outskirts of the Galaxy for a long time before they learned about the existence of the galactic civilization. Since they did not manage to discover foldspace technology they were limited by light speed but did manage to colonize an impressive number of worlds given that limitation. Their empire consisted of some 200 systems at its peak. After their integration into the galactic civilization some of the Mithan emigrated to conreces as inhabitants but many stayed behind in the globular cluster, using the newly acquired fold space technology to fully settle it. The Pyxis cluster now consists of over a thousand inhabited systems, mostly filled with Mithan. In addition to this some of the larger houses of the Pyxis cluster took to the skies and formed migrant fleets made up from hundreds of thousands and sometimes millions of ships which roam the galaxy and often bring prosperity to the regions which they pass through since the Mithan are very adept merchants. It can take such a fleet a generation or more to cross a conrece. The fleets contain up to a billion Mithan each. There are currently eight fleets roaming the galaxy. Mithan are great business people and very good negotiators. They are generally trusted and well liked. |
