Plasma Mass Drivers are the next evolutionary step from regular Mass Drivers but operate on the same principle and for the same purpose.

These massive weapons fire a burst of super-heated ionized-plasma at their target with the kinetic energy equivalent to a destroyer at ramming speed.

The weapon's use is mostly for planetary bombardment at which it excels. The Nemesis-class destroyer has deployed the weapon for hundreds of years with devastating results on the Dilern Regime and Forte populous.

There are loud voices in the interstellar community to outlaw these types of weapons but thus far they have not succeeded.

It is extremely difficult to deploy this weapon against ships because it has a fixed mounting and only fires once every twenty rounds (ROF 1/10 + Reload Time 10 rounds).

The way it fires is spending 10 rounds to charge up after which it must dispense its ordinance within 2 rounds. Therefore it's mostly usable against large inert targets (space stations and planets). It can fire 10 rounds after starting the fight and then every 20 rounds.
